Ruth Coleman

Ruth is a writer and editor specialising in educational and environmental subjects both on and offline. Also a former teacher, environmental education specialist and publicist, her experience includes:
  • commissioning, managing and editing learning resources on a leading website for teachers
  • building community on websites for teachers and nurses
  • creating and editing content for the Countryside Agency’s Local Heritage Initiative (www.LHI.org.uk); City of Bristol College’s Student Support website; and www.landbased-education.org.uk - for seven SW colleges
  • leading training courses in web-writing for Bristol’s Watershed media centre
A former columnist with The Guardian newspaper’s Education supplement, author of educational books for Hodder & Stoughton and WHSmith, Ruth also works in environmental interpretation. Projects include audio trails, one of which was commissioned by BBC Radio Bristol and Bristol City Council to commemorate Year of Arts & Culture 1995. Ruth’s other skills include research, design and production of booklets, newsletters and education packs.
